FUNERAL

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance….”
(Ecclesiastes 3: 1-6)

Sorrow comes to us all, and grief is part of the pageant of living. But that does not make sorrow or grief less painful or any easier to bear. It is perhaps at the time of sadness that we realize our need for community the most. St. John’s is a community of caring people who reach out to and support one another, and who reach out into the community to show the compassionate embrace of God’s love.

If you are experiencing a time of great sorrow, please know that we stand with you, and that we are ready to help you in your time of grief. If you have lost a loved one and would like to talk about a funeral or memorial service, the Worship Ministry of St. John’s has put together a set of guideline policies to help assist you in making your plans most appropriately and with dignity for the deceased and compassion for the bereaved family.
