Choirs at Christmas

Ready for a Christmas concert

The St. John's choir, under the leadership of Music Director Carolyn Maule, is well known in the community for its tradtion of great music.  There is a core group of singers year round, and others who join us for the special seasons of Christmas and Easter.

The choir rehearses Thursday evenings from September to May in the Georgetown sanctuary beginning at 7:30.  Special practices are held during the second half of  Thursday evening rehearsals 6 to 8 weeks prior to special services. The Christmas concert is generally the third Sunday in Advent, repeated the following evening for the community.   Voluntary donations at that concert go to local charities.  There is a Candlelight Service in Glen Williams in early December, and special music on Good Friday or Easter Sunday each year.

The choir regularly participates in fundraising concerts at St John's.  There were recent benefit concerts for such causes as Free the Children, victims of the Myanmar and China earthquakes, and Haiti earthquake victims, with some proceeds going to a charity with local volunteers Healing Hands for Haiti.   Choir members were also privileged to practise and sing with the Elmer Iseler Singers when they presented a memorable concert here at St John's.

New members are always welcome.  Choir experience and the ability to read music are helpful but not a requirement. You will find a warm group of people ready to welcome you who enjoy singing and socializing.  If you are interested in singing with our choir, please contact the Music Director at
